What makes a house clean

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a bunch of fancy cleaning products to keep your house neat and spotless. It's actually more of a matter of how you clean rather than what you use to clean it. Although you'll suddenly be motivated to clean when you get your hands on the latest product in the cleaning industry, that drive is not going to last. In the long run, there are several other aspects you need to focus on, rather than what you are using to clean - that is what makes a house truly clean.

What you need

A routine

One of the main things that will keep you motivated to keep your house clean over a longer period is a routine. Now, this doesn't have to be an elaborate deep cleaning routine that you try to get through every single week - save that for your monthly cleanup. A daily routine should involve the essentials - dusting, wiping flat surfaces with a clean cloth, putting things in order, keeping tabletops and countertops free of clutter. A majority of these barely take up to five minutes. Your daily routine should take you no more than ten minutes. Although it doesn't seem like much, these ten minutes of cleaning every day will help your house shine over the long run.

An organization system

When you start looking into it, there are many organization systems people show online, from the most simple things you can imagine to the most complex, several tiered systems. You don't need to implement every single system you come across - in fact, out of the hundreds of systems you have thought of, only a couple of them will largely benefit you. Figure out what part of your home requires strict organization - is it the pantry? Does the laundry need a system? Or perhaps your walk-in closet? In any case, keep in mind that not every part of your house needs a rigid system, but once you put your messiest areas into a system, there is no doubt that the overall cleanliness of your home will improve.

Extra help

Provided that you don't live alone, it is also crucial to keep in mind that everyone needs to put in the work to have a clean house. Whether it is a spouse, kids, or other family members, your house can only be spick and span if everybody puts in their share of effort. The point is that one single person shouldn't have to run after everyone else to get the house cleaned up. If everyone picks after themselves, it will make cleaning much easier. On top of that, if you try to make a game out of cleanliness chores for the kids, they'll likely hop onto it and help you out better!
